Skyhawks News · Winter Sports Update

Please see important information from  Mr. Scott Warner, DVUSD Director of School Operations and Athletics:

January 12, 2021

Hello DVUSD High School Sports Families,

You may already know that our sports governing body, the Arizona Interscholastic
Association (AIA), has reversed their decision from last week and winter sports will now be played in AIA sanctioned contests starting next week. The AIA has imposed some mitigation requirements so that the games can be played including:

● All students, coaches, and officials will be required to wear a face covering for the
entirety of a game/contest.

● Each school will complete the AIA COVID-19 Athlete/Coach Monitoring Form the
day of all games/contests and provide a copy to the opposing school prior to the
contest.

● Up to two parents or legal guardians may attend their student-athlete’s home
games as allowed by the school and county guidelines.

● Any school that violates any of the mandatory modifications, including the
COVID-19 Return to Play Form, will lose access to AIA officiating.

Our district rules require anyone attending a game to socially distance and to wear a
mask. We are looking forward to seeing our basketball, wrestling, and soccer teams in action.

Thank you for your patience and understanding,

Scott Warner
Director of School Operations and Athletics
